This package is for those that want that ultimate adventure with a taste of luxury. We pick you up from your destination by helicopter and fly you to the remote Kyeburn diggings in Central Otago. It was here that the old timers panned upwards of 1 pound of gold to the pan in its day. We take in the sights of St Bathans and blue lake and give you a history lesson of the area on the way.
We land at the Danseys pass Hotel built during the gold rush. Here we provide you with luxury accommodation as well as a rustic meal next to the open fire dining at the restaurant. We bring you down to the river and set you up on a dredge and/or highbanker on our claim right outside the Hotel on the Kyeburn river.
This is our exclusive claim and we have exclusive access to the whole of the river where you can dredge or highbank for gold.
Like the other dredge tours, we go through a full safety demonstration and will be with you to supervise you all day. Experienced dredgers we are happy to leave to their own devices if that's what you want. Hot scones or pikelets with jam and cream are delivered right to you. The next day we allow you back on the river again or we are happy to showcase some of the rich mining history of the area, it's all up to you.
Any gold you get you to get to take home with you.
We fly you back to your destination. On the way back we can drop you at one of the great restaurants in the area for a meal before bringing you back to your start point.
